Why is the domain name DancersBuidlingsPeople?

Bodies. Architecture. Everyday life.
Sometimes literal dance, sometimes metaphorical dance.

That's totally NOT what this website is about. 

I'm setting this up to share some thoughts about watching dance, performance, and movement. And in deciding to do that I was reminded of one of my favorite pieces of writing. 

 

Edwin Denby's essay "Dancers, Buildings, and People in the Street" was prepared as a lecture on dance criticism for students at Juilliard but was never delivered. Instead it made its way into an anthology of his writing. You can read it in its entirety on Scribd:
